The car came to rest about 15 metres from the roadway in the middle of the waterway.
A young couple who saw the incident stopped and assisted the women from her vehicle and provided care until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived.
The woman was taken to Shoalhaven District Hospital with minor injuries.
Fire and Rescue NSW Shoalhaven 440 and Rural Fire Service crews from Greenwell Point and Culburra Beach attended the crash.
Crews worked with the NSW Fire and Rescue's Hazmat Unit from Shellharbour to install booms into the waterway to ensure no fluids from the car escaped.
Testing later revealed the waterway to be free of contaminants.
The road was closed for a short period while the tricky extraction of the vehicle from the water was undertaken.
