The JB Lions members wanted to thank all the RFS volunteers and also distribute some funds they had recently raised.
It was fitting the event was held in the former Erowal Bay RFS shed which is now used by the Jervis Bay Lions Club as its base.
The thank-you event included a tasty barbecue lunch and lots of laughs.
JB Lions Club publicity officer Bob Hanlon said they appreciated what the RFS volunteers did during the bushfire disaster.
"It was a way to express a heartfelt thank you to those involved in fighting the massive fires around our NSW South Coast area during the recent November to February horrific fire season, in some tangible way," he said.
"It was also a chance to meet with the personnel of those brigades who were responsible for all that toil and sacrifice that went on over that period."
The JB Lions is noted for its generosity and many RFS brigades left with much-needed funds.

"We are able to present cheques to each of the brigades to help in their re-equipment campaign to repair, refurbish and replace equipment that had become lost or damaged during the conflagration," Mr Hanlon said.
"We were able to distribute a total of $10,500 around the area from our recent fundraising efforts.
"This is just the start of a needed campaign that we intend to continue now that a firm relationship has been established between the Lions and these people who put their lives on the line for us and the rest of the community."
He added everyone who attended enjoyed the food and having a chat.
"It was a chance to get all the various local brigades together in one place at the one time so that they could actually talk to each other in a relatively relaxed atmosphere, rather than through two-way radios in crisis situations," Mr Hanlon said.
"One comment we had during the day was that they didn't generally get together in such circumstances and that it was great just to get to talk to the other people from the other brigades and swap anecdotes and experiences from the fire ground.
"We achieved three objectives during the day and also provided some lunch for the assembled gathering - this included the Lions who were assisting on the day as well.
"It was not only sausage sandwiches on offer, as the women and men, so I was told, went out of their way to provide delicious sweeter morsels to supplement the sausages and provide a great finish to the meal."
He added the meal was much appreciated and it all turned out to be a most successful day.
