Organiser David Kent said there were a number of reasons for the decision, including the RFS directive for tourists to return, the positive effects the show has on local business, and the support of the community.
"My greatest sympathies go out to those effected by the fire and drought, both locally and throughout our whole country," Mr Kent said.
"I am deeply saddened by the impact on communities, individuals, livestock and our environment.
"I feel for the societies which have made the difficult decision to cancel.
"I have been involved for many years and have witnessed the happiness, excitement and satisfaction that a show can provide."
