NSW, with Shoalhaven player Callum Mackay in the team, took on Western Australia in the men's final on Sunday at the Illawarra Hockey Centre.
The home state suffered a heartbreaking defeat.
With scores locked at 4-4, WA's Ryan Pace scored his third goal in the 39th minute to wrap up a 5-4 victory.
Meanwhile, the top NSW side beat the NSW Blues, the B team, in the women's championship.

Shoalhaven's Sam Wright-Smith is a member of the boy's under 18s side.
