Honour deserved
With the inhuman effort the firefighters are making even heroes seems to be an understatement.

Every man and woman fighting these fires should receive the highest honour possible.

Waive water bills
I consider now is the ideal time for Shoalhaven Water to consider implementing a moratorium of some level on residents' water bills to offset the additional cost of the water used for the protection of their homes recently.
The fires are not of our making and it would excellent PR for Shoalhaven City Council and Shoalhaven Water to show concern for the Shoalhaevn community, particularly the pensioners.

De facto counsellors
When I go for my morning walk around town I usually have a chat with some of the shop-keepers and they are telling me how emotionally drained they are by the end of the day. Not only trying to manage the logistics of restocking, but also hearing the stories of loss and destruction from their customers and trying to offer them a meaningful and kindly reply.
It seems these people are our de facto counsellors, and it is taking a toll on them.
So, I would like to say to all of you, "Thanks." Your efforts are noticed and greatly appreciated.

Grateful evacuee
Would to send a big thank you to the residents of Mollymook and Ulladulla for their wonderful hospitality. Opening their homes to our loved ones to use their amenities, putting on sausage sizzles, offering drinks and ice blocks to trapped motorists whilst they were struggling to get home from a terrible situation down south.
Also a big thank you to all involved in what can only be called a once a lifetime natural catastrophe.

Praise for professionals
The work of the RFS volunteers in tackling the terrible fires we have faced since 26 November 2019 is attracting praise and thanks. That is great. It is important, however, not to overlook the work of our professional emergency services.
On top of their normal workload they are now fully engaged in tackling all the traumas that accompany the fires that are ravaging the south coast of NSW.
Ambos, Police, Fire and Rescue and 000 staff are under great stress.
The ambos spend their days at the fire staging areas looking after firefighters as well as doing all the emergency work for locals.
The police do all their normal work as well as searching for arsonists, doing knocking vulnerable residents and managing road traffic.
Fire and Rescue staff now head into the bush to fight fires on top everything else they do.
Triple 0 staff take huge number of calls from people in stress or worried about fires as well as dealing with everything else.
All the women and men who work for these emergency services are highly professional, hard working and dedicated. They face huge trauma and stress.
A big thank you Ulladulla based police, ambos and Fire and Rescue.
You do our community proud.

POPULAR OPINION
I am very upset. I am sad to see what is happening in Australia.
Our politicians are not getting the message.
We need our doctors, our police, our teachers, our cleaners but politicians? I hope the taxpayers in Australia have had enough.
I certainly have.
