It's hard to believe during this season of abundance, but one in every five Australian kids goes hungry each day.
In fact, of all the people who came to Vinnies for help this year, more than half needed our assistance just to afford food and groceries. Every day, we see the distress and desperation of parents who want to give their kids the world, but can't even afford to give them proper meals.
Vinnies supports these families with healthy food, clothing, bedding, furniture, help to pay the bills, crisis accommodation, and more. Because we believe every child deserves to grow up healthy, safe, clothed and fed - don't you agree?
Please donate whatever you can to the Vinnies Christmas Appeal to feed a hungry child this Christmas. Visit vinnies.org.au or call 13 18 12.
Thank you, and merry Christmas.

Thank you, Berry
On behalf of the Leukaemia Foundation, I'd like to sincerely thank Mandy Bourke and all local residents who supported and participated in our recent Light the Night event in Berry.
By coming out in strong numbers and lighting up the sky with beautiful gold, white and blue lanterns as a show of support meant so much to people living with blood cancer and their families.
I am pleased to share that $5,911.14 has been raised in the local area.
With this contribution, the Leukaemia Foundation is proud to serve people living with blood cancers and their families locally through our services, such as emotional support, education, accommodating during the weeks and months of treatment in the city, as well as transport to and from medical appointments - all at no cost.
The money raised through your donation will also be used to fund breakthrough research in hopes of achieving a future that is free of blood cancer.
B. Petch, Leukaemia Foundation
Support appreciated
The LMC Soup Kitchen which serves lunch to the most vulnerable and needy members of our community on a Friday would like to take this opportunity, as we reach the end of another year, to thank all those who have so generously assisted us in our work. Without the support of all our volunteeers and benefactors we would not be able to do what we do. Special mention must go to the following businesses and groups for their ongoing and generous support:
Nowra Fresh; Nowra Farmers Market; Bakehouse Delights; Nowra Village Hot Bake; St Michael's Primary School; Shoalhaven City Council; Shoalhaven Engraving; Bomaderry Bowling Club; Southern IML Pathology; Vinnies; SALT Ministries; Nowra City Church; Watersleigh.
Also a big thanks to the many other community groups and individuals who have also supported us this year. We couldn't do what we do without you!
The Soup Kitchen will have its Christmas lunch on Friday, December 20 and will close until February 7. Have a safe and blessed Christmas and New Year.

Upgrade questioned
The works at the Hyams Beach car park appear to have been instigated by one resident. At what point does SCC pander to one individual's wants, regardless of the remainder of the villagers' needs.
What makes Hyams Beach stand above the remainder of the Shoalhaven for upgrades of services and funds not being spent on general upgrades in surrounding areas, particularly after our rate hikes over the last few years? I question the council's motives and use of funds.
