Playing against last-placed Bomaderry, Basin solidified their second spot on the ladder, by downing the Tigers by 114 runs.

The visitors chose to bat first - a decision which paid dividends.

Opener Michael Burgess (43) and first-drop Tom Dolby (63) made a strong start for the Dolphins, before Rob Bleumink (66 - which included seven boundaries and five sixes), Nathan Thorn (50 not out) and Mark Walke (31 not out) guided their side to 5/269 from their 40 overs.

Mathew Bell (3/25) was the only multiple wicket-taker for the hosts, while Anthony Johnson (1/30) and Adam Weller (1/42) grabbed one each.

In response, Bell (32) and Johnston (24) again for pivotal for the Tigers in their run chase.

But as only Dan Roth (15) and Harrison Graham (12) could also reach double figures, the Tigers were eventually all out for 155 in the 30th over.

Liam O'Brien was the star for the Dolphins, taking 5/29 from his eight overs.

Bleumink (3/31) backed up his solid innings with the bat with the ball, while Thorn (1/39) and Troy Cole (1/45) claimed one each in the win.

Elsewhere, at Hayden Drexel Oval, Norths returned to the winner's circle against Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemens - one week after dropping their first game of the season to Sussex Inlet.

On the day, Norths won the toss and elected to bat first.

The visitors' top-three all produced handy starts - Tobias Hanger (38), Matt Hickmott (29) and Paul Davidson (28) - laying a solid platform for their side.

But only Ben Beck (39) and Dean Tyson (15) offered any real support to those top-three, as Norths were restricted to 9/207 from their 40 overs.

Luke Jurancic (4/38) was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts, as John Guscott (2/36), Gary Fuss (1/20), Ross Nelmes (1/31) and Aaron Van Essen (1/46) all chipped in with the ball too.

In reply, Ex-Servos was cruising early, thanks to Van Essen (47), Scott Cusack (28) and Jurancic (19).

A tidy 31 not out by Alec Cooper kept the runs ticking along but he only received support from Vik Dalal (18), Guscott (16 not out) and Nelmes (14) - as the hosts (9/199) fell eight runs short of the victory.

Hickmott led the way with the red ball, taking 3/40 from his eight overs, as Hanger (2/18), Beck (1/16), Chris McDonald (1/23), Zac Blackwell (1/32) and Tyson (1/41) all contributed in the side's seventh win of the campaign.

Finally, the match between third-placed Batemans Bay and fourth-placed Sussex Inlet, at the Thompson Street Sporting Complex, as abandoned because of the ongoing South Coast fires.
