Huskisson Sports Grounds hosted a Husky Vs Basin Derby Day on November 23, to raise funds for Basin 3rd grader, Lawrence Kinnear. Lawrence was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a form of blood cancer, towards the end of the 2019 football season and has been undergoing treatment since.

The aim of the fund-raiser was to provide Lawrence with additional funds to assist with supporting treatment. The day was a fantastic success with the broader community showing their support.
Four games were played throughout the day: a Ladies match, an over 35s game, a mixed 2nds/3rds game and 1sts/2nds game. Husky ladies claimed the first win for the day over the Basin Ladies with the Over 35s Basin team securing the next win.
The combined 2nds/3rds game truly was a mixed game with multiple players swapping jerseys to create an exciting (and confusing!) blur of red and green on the pitch. Lawrence Kinnear had a run up front and was unlucky not to score.
The final game of the day was the mixed 1sts/2nds game where there was definitely no mixing of jerseys. It was an intense, entertaining match with Husky taking home the win.
Between matches were some entertaining mini-games including Longest Kick (won by Colin Crangle, Basin and Lucy Brown, Basin), Closest to the Pin (won by Graham McOmish, Basin) and the highly anticipated 100 yard dash (won by Nick Gelle, Husky).
Players of the Match were presented with trophy stein glasses donated by F&N Trophy Centre. Winners for the day were: Ella Morris (Husky), Mark Foggin (Basin), Nick Gelle (Husky) and Josh Hawker (Husky).
Shoalhaven District Football Referees Association provided free referees for the day and also made a significant cash donation with funds raised from their presentation night. Huskisson RFS also made an appearance to provide entertainment and education.
The day was further supported by a handful of sponsors, that assisted with the running of the day.
Through canteen sales, raffle ticket sales, player registrations and donations the clubs were able to raise over $6500 for Lawrence - a great result and a wonderful testament to the Bay and Basin and wider communities.
