On Wednesday, it was the place firies sought relief as north-easterly winds pushed the fire towards Western Distributor Road.
Over the morning Manyana Rural Fire Brigade captain Gary Barton and crew had been completing reconnaissance, looking for roads to be used as containment lines to stop the fire.
He had been on the fireground since 8am and found time to reload about 1pm. He paid tribute to the efforts of crews who worked through the night, offering property protection and containing the blaze.

"The conditions [today] are much better than last night," he said.
"It was dark, the country is steep, it's dangerous."
As Mr Barton spoke to the Times, Manyana was called to assist the evacuation of a Backhouse Road couple.
While Manyana was called on to assist, under the roof of a picnic table, Forestry and North Cambewarra crews were plotting containment lines and other strategies.
Nearby Bill Seibright from Oak Flats was was waiting by Lake Tabourie's cat-13 water tanker in case any crews needed assistance.
