Vincentia Matters, an association of Vincentia residents committed to advocating for the well-being of their community and the environment in which they live, is driving the project.
The organisation is hosting a special community come together celebration day at Plantation Point between 11am and 3pm for residents to gather, recall, recount, relive the history of the area, the major happenings, the many family ties, the personalties.
Vincentia Matters secretary Liz Tooley said the aim is to compile the history of the Jervis Bay seaside suburb.
"Bring your Vincentia memories, stories, photos and ideas, a picnic blanket, sunscreen and hat, and join us to make connections," she said.
"This is the time for Vincentia, the people and the place, to clearly say who we are and what we value.

"Vincentia, like so many small communities in Australia, is being buffered by many external forces for change.
"Forces that in the majority of cases want to squeeze our village into a shape that suits others' desires.
"For example - Roads and Marine Services (RMS) unilaterally deciding how we should or shouldn't have access to the rest of the world. Tourism NSW promoting greater exploitation of Jervis Bay natural environment and commercial developers planning resorts and other dense accommodation facilities to further strain public services and amenities."
Mrs Tooley said it's the time for Vincentia, the people and the place, to clearly say "who we are and what we value".
"Such action requires that we truly know ourselves - our evolution and natural environment," she said.
"We need to know what is the legacy we share responsibility for, from the first Australians to present-day residents; from the unexploited environs to today's surviving remnants.
"We are inviting all residents to join the task of drawing a line in the sand and 'Come Together' to document our unique history and ecology which throughout history have been intertwined."
To capture the story Vincentia Matters is initiating two residents' working groups:
Our People and Community - to lead the research and documentation of human history - the achievements and failures, the people and events that shape who we are as a community.
The human story of Vincentia begins with the first Australians, indigenous to the land in Jervis Bay, and stretches through two stages of development after European settlement from the late 1700s to the mid 1800s, and then from the early 1900s to the present day.
"We hope to gather the memories and stories of our people and community and create a Vincentia timeline charting our human history," Mrs Tooley said.
"From the timeline, we anticipate compiling (with permission) the stories, photos, documents, videos and other memorabilia into print and digital resources accessible to all.
"But we need your help to create our story. If you, your family or friends have memories, documents, photos or other memorabilia of Vincentia, particularly from 1900 to present day, contact us."
You can join the Vincentia History group on Facebook www.facebook.com/groups/549526672465713 or connect via email at vincentiahistory@gmail.com
The other working group is - Our Natural Environment, to lead the research and document the natural ecology - its uniqueness and value, the threats and opportunities that contain the bayside village.
The Come Together celebration day will be held at Plantation Point this Saturday, November 30 between 11am and 3pm. As well as bringing you local history items there will also be a sausage sizzle, food trucks, music and fun!
