We don't caucus
Poor Terry Barrett. It is disappointing to see Terry engage in the same sort of personal insults that another Greens Councillor has been exercising this week in the media. I always respected Terry for being one of the moderate Greens when compared to those selected above him to be elected who are all from the more extreme Greens Left Action.

Still this personal campaign continues. They throw in overtones of corruption as well suggesting bloc voting and caucusing. This is worth a response.
Genuine Council observers can see that Shoalhaven Independents Councillors do not always vote together. On the various issues, there are numerous voting patterns within the group. Why? First, because we strongly believe in independence and second because we don't ever caucus. Even when we are allowed to on electing a Deputy Mayor... we still don't caucus.
It's time for Council to focus on substantive matters in the run-up to the next election. Will Councillors commit to not raising rates above the peg? How will Councillors work with the NSW and Federal Government to fix the appalling state of local roads and what planning is needed to ensure that the Shoalhaven remains the region in which all our residents want to live?

Plan to reduce emissions
I have a plan that will reduce carbon emissions.
1: All state and territory governments pass legislation to make it mandatory for all new houses built to have at least a 5.3 volt solar roof system installed with inverter styled lithium battery storage.
2: The federal government continue solar panel discounts for all existing houses and apartments.
3: All state and territory governments pass legislation to make it mandatory for all new houses built to have 50,000 litre (11,000 gallon) water tanks installed and hooked up to cold water outlets. When the tank level drops to 5 per cent capacity, the owners will be able (through a lever) to switch over to the catchment water supply.
4: The federal government call for tenders from motor fuel supply companies to invest in the production of "liquid ammonia" to fuel hydrogen motor vehicles. The successful tender will receive a generous subsidy on production volume. It will be contract binding that the company build hydrogen refuelling pumps at all of their service station outlets.
Hydrogen fuelled vehicles are, climate friendly. Hydrogen fuelled vehicles only emit water vapour from exhausts.

Nurses stretched
After experiencing my wife in Shoalhaven Hospital having a major operation, there were inadequate supplies where nurses were buying theot own equipment and were understaffed.
I have admiration for most of the staff but feel some of them have given up and only do what they have to. The administration has been taken away from the people that were oiriginally doing it and given to the doctors who seem to have a careless attitude to the nurses. I have discussed this with Fiona Philips' staff and asked them to look into it.

Sent home too early
I know what being sent home from hospital is like, but at least I am here today to talk about it.
After standard keyhole surgery not only did I wake up to hear my doctor state that he had really stuffed that up, but then my drain failed and I woke up in a blood soaked bed. Then my doctor said I needed to go home. I said, "Please, let me stay a day or two longer so that I can recover properly." Well no, I was released the next day.
I understand the hospital is under resourced, but it is time the patients do not suffer for it.
