Catastrophic is the highest level of bush fire danger possible.
The Rural Fire Service is warning people that for Tuesday they should avoid all bushland areas; safer areas may include large centres, such as towns or cities well away from bushland areas.

District Officer Ross Smith said although the conditions were concerning the region was prepared.
"We do have strike teams coming down to the area, just in case anything does generate within the Shoalhaven," Mr Smith said.
