The regional ceremony was held at Wollongong Golf Club, with Riverwatch being a Volunteer Team Nominee Illawarra.
The awards are a celebration of the great Australian tradition of quietly lending a hand without asking for anything in return.
They provide a unique platform for volunteers to share their stories and for the state to formally recognise their efforts.
Riverwatch member Bruce Walker said it was great to promote what the group does to carry on the work that Charlie Weir and others started so many years ago along the banks of the Shoalhaven River.
"We can see the results in the fine stands of Mangroves and Casuarinas that adorn the southern river bank from Terara to Numbaa Island, as one such project," he said.
New volunteers are always welcome and your contribution is appreciated.
