He was born on October 13, 1927 in Gladesville, New South Wales. He was husband to Edna (dec), son to Lyle (dec) and Delicia (dec), brother to Ralph and Dessie (dec) and brother-in-law to Gladys and Lori (dec).
He was a loving father to to six children, Lester, Darryl, Maria, Frances, Lanette and Paula, and father-in-law to John, Anne, Pauline and Steve.
Roy was a proud grandfather to 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Roy spent most of his childhood in country New South Wales, growing up in hard times. He later moved to Sydney where he started his roof tiling business with his brothers.
Roy met his beautiful wife, Edna Madigan at her uncle's dance studio in Newtown.
They were married in 1948 and after 70 years of marriage, Edna sadly passed away peacefully on July 6, 2019.
Roy and Edna moved to Matraville to raise their six children, who had a wonderful upbringing and went without nothing because of Roy's amazing work ethic.
The family have lovely memories of weekends at Congi Beach in La Perouse. Roy built a weekender at St Georges Basin where the kids had many great times with their cousins and Roy's mother.
Later Roy and Edna retired to the Basin and then moved to Vincentia where he played golf, painted his beautiful pictures of Jervis Bay and starred in his wonderful radio show, Strolling Down Memory Lane.
Roy was so popular with everyone, sharing his jokes and an incredible knowledge of everything, which he got from his mother, Delicia.
Roy passed peacefully with family by his side. Rest in peace our wonderful Roy the Boy.
