However, there is a dark side to fishing that people do not think about.
If you have a boat and go out fishing, have a think about where you leave your vessel when you are at home.
If you leave the vessel out the front in your driveway or the street, make an effort and remove the rods, tackle and any unsecured fuel tanks and motors.
It does not take long for a crook to syphon some petrol or remove fishing gear from an open tinny on a trailer in the middle of the night.
This type of stealing is becoming more prevalent as there are more vessels being prepped for the oncoming summer.
It's hard to get up at 4 in the morning to go fishing and have to load the boat beforehand, however have a think of how you would feel if you backed the boat down onto the boat ramp and found that your rods were gone or worse.
What would happen if you ran out of fuel out in the bay?
