Superintendent Jordan Emery said three crews and a helicopter were sent to the crash.
"NSW Ambulance treated a man believed to be in his 60s for injuries to his head, face and shoulders," Superintendent Emery said.
"He was transported by road ambulance to Shoalhaven Hospital where a helicopter was awaiting with a medical team on board to assess his condition. He was then airlifted to Wollongong Hospital"
"The patient was in a serious but stable condition."
9.30am: Police have released a statement about the accident.
"About 7.30am today emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, Bomaderry, just north of Boxsell Lane, following reports of a collision between two trucks travelling south bound," police said.
"The driver of the first truck was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics at the scene before being airlifted to Wollongong Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
"The driver of the second truck was taken to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
"Traffic diversions are likely to be in place for several hours"
8.50am:
There are reports that south-bound traffic has begun to trickle through, and that a stop/go signal is being used. Northbound traffic is being redirected through Meroo Road.
7.20am:
The Toll Air helicopter and other emergency crews are at a crash involving a truck and another vehicle on the Princes Highway about 500 metres north of the Lamonds Lane intersection at Meroo Meadow.
There are reports of a person trapped.
The Princes Highway is closed in both directions. Traffic is heavy. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
