This will be the biggest year yet for this locally grown art prize.
After three exhibitions under the banner of Jervis Bay and Basin Arts, the prize is now managed and run by Shoalhaven Regional Gallery and will be on display at the Gallery from October 5 to November 23.

The prize aims to inspire artists to consider contemporary art as more than something created recently, and to reflect on the ways contemporary art has, and continues to, push boundaries and comment on our world and the artist's place in it.
The prize is open to artworks in any style or medium, and alongside the first prize there is also a Highly Commended prize of $1,000, a Jervis Bay and Basin Members' prize of $1,000, a People's Choice award of $500 and a Curator's Choice award of a solo exhibition at Shoalhaven Regional Gallery.
The prize will be judged by a panel of representatives from the arts, led by Ron Ramsay, executive director of the Art Gallery Society of NSW.
Ron was previously director of Newcastle Art Gallery and has also worked at NGA and NGV and as Australia's Cultural Attaché in Washington DC.

If you'd rather view prize-winning art you're in luck - the Shoalhaven Art Society 54th Annual Open Art Competition will be on display from August 3 - 31.
This large annual exhibition draws entries Australia wide, with a particular focus on local talent. The exhibition explores painting in all its forms and invites a large variety of subject matter.
A number of prizes are awarded, including a junior section for artists between the ages of 12 - 18.
All works are for sale in this unique showcase of talented artists, offering a great opportunity to find that perfect piece for your home or a gift for someone special.
