EIGHT of the Illawarra South Coast Dragons top players have been acknowledged for their strong performances in this year's CRL country championships at the recent awards presentation.

The two players recognised from Wade Forrester's under 23 men's side, who defeated the Monaro Colts 42-12 in the final, were Cooper Purcell (best and fairest) and Michael Applebee (coaches award).
While Rachael Pearson (best and fairest) and Keeley Davis (coaches award) took out the awards for the open women's tackle side, coached by Albion Park-Oak Flats mentor Adam Bezzina.
In the junior ranks, Nowra Warriors' Jonah Longbottom, who is part of the under 16s NSW Country squad, was named as Cameron Thugate's best and fairest winner, with team mate Quinton Taufa claiming the coaches award, for the Andrew Johns Cup side - which also took out their division.
Finally, the two players acknowledged from Glenn Buffolin's Laurie Daley Cup side (under 18s) were Phoenix Ventenibua-Finnerty (best and fairest) and Nelson Sharp (coaches award).
