This is a fantastic achievement by both boys and shows great club spirit and loyalty to the Nowra Warriors. Running downhill with the wind behind them, the Warriors needed to start well.
After scoring first the game became a real arm wrestle and Nowra went to the break up 12-10.
Discipline and ball skills went out the window in the second half and Basin stuck to their game plan and ran in 12 unanswered points to have their first win against the Warriors 22-12.
Bailey Soper, Hugh Regan and Jamahl Rix had solid games for the Warriors.
The Nowra Warriors under 16's hosted Berkeley at Lyrebird Park last Saturday, June 29. It was a very physical start to the game, with strong defence from both sides dominating the first 10 minutes of the match. Nowra posted first points after Kaleb Stewart charged down a kick and regathered himself, outrunning the defence to score in the corner after a 70m individual effort, before making the conversion from the sideline.
Once again Berkeley were very physical in defence, however, Nowra returned fire and were able to score three more tries to Diaz Brown, Kris Beck and Josh Devlin, leading 22-0 at half-time. Nowra started the second half strong with some great defence before continuing their dominance with the ball, crossing for four more tries. William Braddick scored, Kris Beck scored his second try and Jarrah Mcleod also crossed for a double. Kaleb Stewart converted 5 goals for the match making the final score 42-0 to Nowra in what was their best performance of the year.
Nowra had a number strong performances, however, it was Rodney Davis-Stewart who was awarded Player of the Match after showing tremendous heart and leadership in his inspirational runs and defence.
