WITH it being National Volunteer Week, Sports NSW has announced its finalists for the 2019 NSW Community Sports Awards - three of which come from the South Coast.

The Shoalhaven Basketball Association has been rewarded for commitment on the court by being nominated in Community Team section, alongside the Central Coast Heart (netball), NSW Blind and Low Vision Cricket team, NSW Youth Pathway Cup team (surf lifesaving), Penrith Touch Football under 10s and UNSW Wests Killer Whales (waterpolo).
The other two nominated South Coast entities come from the AFL South Coast club Kiama Power.
The club as whole has been shortlisted in the Community Club of the Year division, where they are up against the Avalon Beach Surf Life Saving Club, Budokan Judo Club, Kurri Kurri Speedway Club, Maitland Blacks Rugby Club and Savannah Pride (basketball).
Not to be outdone is Power's Tim Martin who is one of six finalists in the Volunteer Director category, alongside Helen Armson (football), Kerry Chikarovski (rugby union), Lesley Darby (softball), Chris Fydler OAM (swimming) and Phillip Western (gymnastics).
Other categories to be presented include Community Official, Young Official, Community Coach, Young Coach, Community Sport Administrator and Community Event.
The winners of the awards will be revealed at a special ceremony in the Strangers' Room of NSW Parliament House, from 6pm on Thursday, June 20.
The presentation ceremony will be hosted by the Minister of Sport John Sidoti and the minister will also present the recipients of the Sport NSW Distinguished Long Service Award with special recognition for their exceptional service to sport.
