Adam Dale Rae, 32, will serve his sentence within the community rather than in jail.
The court heard Rae was driving a Ford Ranger utility on the Princes Highway at Tomerong at 2.20pm on February 19, which crashed with another vehicle causing grievous bodily harm to a woman.
Magistrate Gabriel Fleming also disqualified him from driving for 12 months and fined him $1500.
A charge of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm was withdrawn and dismissed.
