Nationals candidate for Gilmore, Katrina Hodgkinson, said her husband, Jack, discovered the sign after attending the Greenwell Point dawn service.
"Jack actually stepped on one of the damaged posts and seriously injured his foot," she said.
"The sign was located on in private paddock on Bolong Road, and appeared to have been deliberately run over.
Prior to the state election, in response to a poll, South Coast Register readers said signs along streets and highways were the second most annoying form of election advertising, after text messages.
In this instance, the vandals trespassed on private property.
Ms Hodgkinson said the behaviour was "disappointing".
"We make a concerted effort to get permission from property owners before we erect any type of campaign material and this type of blatant vandalism is really disappointing," she said.
A mobile phone that was found at the site was handed to police who attended the scene.
