A special event, on Thursday, April 18 at the Nowra PCYC, aims to increase community awareness and reduce stigma when it comes to youth homelessness.
The event is being organised by headspace Nowra and Shoalhaven Youth Health and aims to highlight the impacts homelessness is having on young people's mental health and wellbeing.
They have organised a couch-surfing billy cart event which will be held along with many other activities on the day.
It will be held from 10am to 2pm at the Park Road, Nowra East PCYC as part of the National Youth Week celebrations.
Local service providers (see video below) are finding out that couch surfing is on the rise and so they have organised a way to highlight this issue.
Teams have put wheels on their couches which they will be "racing" on the day.
The couches were donated by the Salvation Army, South Nowra.
Headspace, Alesco, Shoalhaven High School, UOW Shoalhaven Campus, Mission Australia, Salvation Army South Nowra, Care South and the PCYC have all entered teams.
People are urged to attend this free event and there will be much to see and do.
There will be a barbecue cooking up delicious food, service providers will be on hand to talk to people, and there will be stalls and giveaways.
The theme of this year's Youth Week theme is 'Coming Together to Connect, Share, Speak Out and Celebrate'.
Youth Week runs from April 10 to April 18.
