"I've been on the phone to him every week asking about a federal commitment to the highway," she said.
That funding - to the tune of $500 million - will be outlined in the federal budget, to be handed down on Tuesday, April 2.
"A safer Princes Highway is the number one issue for locals," Ms Hodgkinson said.
"That's why I have been working with Deputy Prime Minister and Nationals' Leader Michael McCormack to ensure our corridor of commerce gets the funding it deserves from The Nationals in Government.
"Together we are delivering $500 million to the Princes Highway to start making the dream of a safer road a reality."
Ms Hodgkinson said the highway funding was part of a $2.2 billion road safety package, which includes a 25 per cent increase in funding to local government through Roads to Recovery.
"That means even more money will flow from Canberra to councils to spend on upgrading local roads which we know need it.
"It could be safer intersections with a turning lane or roundabout, or ensuring that the tourist roads which connect our region to holidaymakers are up to scratch.
"The money is given to local councils to spend on local priorities."
