Farah said after he scored the second ''the crowd was going off and I took a moment to soak it all in''.

"These moments are running out for me, I'll try to lap them up while they're here, it was pretty special seeing the old man and the family on the sideline, they had a bit of a tear in the eye,'' Farah said afterwards.

"These are the moments I'll probably remember well down the track once I'm finished up, but tonight was about getting the job done, and I'm glad we did.''

After a lacklustre first half in driving rain that had Manly ahead 2-nil, the Tigers soon levelled before blowing the game apart.

Farah was able to pounce on a Luke Brooks' grubber that bounced off the foot of Curtis Sironen and sat up under the posts.

The hooker then turned provider for Russell Packer who charged down field, only for the big man to break stride and gallop and butcher any hope of throwing a final pass inside for Brooks.

Farah's boot forced two dropouts before Luke Garner bagged his first try, only for Farah to seal the result when he somehow shrugged off the efforts of Jake Trbojevic.

It was a wonderful start to what is likely to be Farah's final campaign at the joint venture.

If the sight of packed hill at the inner-western Sydney venue is one of the great sights in rugby league, Farah and Benji Marshall still calling the shots for the Tigers is one of the most romantic.

And to think Farah was the same player who sat on the Leichhardt scoreboard, enjoying a quiet beer, at the end of 2016 when squeezed out of the club.

Marshall quipped to The Sun-Herald: "When he scored the second try I saw him look up at the grandstand and there was a 'hologram' of himself drinking a beer. He waved to himself. I was like, 'that's when you know you're the king'.

"It was nice to see him go out of dummy-half [for the second try] because at training sometimes you'll see him ball play. I'll take the credit for that.

"He was outstanding, just his leadership and experience, and the way Madge wants us to play, he drives a lot of the standards.''

The Tigers were good without being great in their first game for Maguire.

They will be much better with the return of their skipper Moses Mbye from a knee injury next weekend against the New Zealand Warriors.

David Nofoaluma could also be back from a shoulder injury, while the return of Josh Reynolds remains a mystery after he was fit but sat out the reserve-grade game.

Coach Michael Maguire said of his $3 million man Reynolds: "It was a tough decision to not allow him play. At the end of the day we're here to produce on the park in first grade. It was a selfless act he had to put himself in to be ready if someone got injured.

"Moving forward it's patience and time and I'll look at this week and see where we need to improve, and I know he's working hard in the background.''

As for Farah, Maguire, who briefly worked with him at South Sydney, said: "When you create history at the club, you're a part of it forever. You can see it in Robbie and Benji.''

With a little luck, Esan Marsters and Robert Jennings would have had tries in the first half. Sydney Roosters premiership winner Ryan Matterson is also a great buy for the club.
