Lyn Hatton claimed the second division by recording a nett 76 on a count back from Maree McLean who came snapping at her heels with 76 also. Di Pritchard is certainly working on her handicap. A pleasant day for golf at Callala, not too hot and not too cold with a good field of happy, keen players all vying for a place in the winners’ circle in the day’s Single Stableford Competition. Today the top spot on the podium was to go to the happy, ever smiling quiet achiever and all-round nice guy, Steve Martin, who played an excellent round of consistent golf to earn his win. Congratulations Steve on your great golf and well-earned win. Second home was Harry Dowling who, as one of Callala’s longest playing members, and one who over the years and through good, steady golf has developed a good relationship with the winners’ circle. Congratulations Harry on a very worthy win. Taking third spot with a great game was Graham Lewington who is obviously enjoying playing without the burdens of being Captain. Thanks for all the dedicated years of Captaincy and congratulations on your win. Fourth today was another quiet achiever, Glenn Hughes, who is also no stranger to the winners’ circle with his good, steady and consistent game. A big congratulations today to one of our low handicap players, Steve Monsalve, who showed the rest of us how this game of golf should be played with a tremendous Tee drive to the green on the 9th followed by an excellently planned and executed putt to hole out for an Eagle and a reward of satisfaction and a box of new balls presented to him at the presentation by President, Harold Reynolds, for his achievement. Nearest the Pin:- 9th Hole Steve Monsalve (Eagle), 10th Rob Jerman, 14th Tony Pitt-Lancaster, 16th John Love. Raffle:- Col Chessell, Perry Cousins, Steve Monsalve. Ball Rundown:- T. Despite the threat of rain we had a great roll up of 19 of our members today, to contest a stroke event and playing for the Captain versus President Trophy. Most of us found the course in great condition except the greens were a little fast. This didn’t bother Skeeter the Club Hoop as he had a net 29 for the nine holes, this was on a countback from the Boy Wonder, who seems to be playing very well lately. Skeeter also took out the Putting Competition having only 13 putts for the nine holes. Haggis was third with a net 32 on a countback from various players. The Mars Bar went to T2. Nearest the Pin on 10th was Weetbix the 13th fell to Fitter and the Drive and Pitch went to Kiwi. The feature game Captain versus President was won by the Captain. With the President keeping all the names of the players that played on his side to give them a talking to. The Eclectic is really warming up as you will see in today’s results, attached to this email. Next week’s game is at Sussex Inlet don’t forget to bring your $5.00 fee. Hit off at 8am sharp.
