The Shoals started the competition in strong fashion and won its first three pool games.
The local team then got to face the strong Lakes team in the Bowl finals.
Shoals played a great game in the Bowl final but the Newcastle based Lakes were too strong on the day
While they lost in the finals, the Shoals still came home with many positives.
It was hard to pick a player of the tournament for the Shoals as they all played strongly.
However, sevens is made for players with strength and speed - like the Brandon brothers.
Keiran Brandon scored three tries in one match and two in another, while brother Steve consistently troubled his opponents.
Familiar faces like Sam Watts and Tom Horton also had a run.
It’s now back on the training paddock for the Shoals.
The Shoals train Tuesday and Thursday from 6 pm at Rugby Park South Nowra and more players are welcome to attend.
Shoals will field three teams in the men’s Illawarra Rugby competition this season and Paul Connor will be coaching the first-grade side this year.
