South Coast is one of 14 locations across NSW, aimed at mobilising members of the public in the fight against illicit drugs.’
The new state-wide campaign, funded by the Commonwealth Government, is aimed at stopping Australia’s supply of illicit drugs including methylamphetamine (ice), cocaine, MDMA, heroin and cannabis.
The campaign is designed to encourage members of the public to come forward with any information that can assist us in identifying any drug networks, any people selling, supplying or manufacturing drugs in the area.

Like every area, the South Coast/Shoalhaven is not immune to problems with drugs.
We have seen numerous strike forces in operation in our region arresting a number of people and removing illicit drugs from our streets.
But our police can only do so much - if we don't know about it we can’t do anything.
So remember any information, no matter how small you might think it is, it could be the missing piece of the jigsaw officers have been looking for and could lead to a bigger operation.
If you have information about someone in your community who is manufacturing or supplying drugs, it’s simple - call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
We will be coming for you, we will target you and we will arrest you.
- South Coast Police District Commander, Superintendent Steve Hegarty at the Nowra “Dob in a Dealer” launch.
All information is confidential.
Or you can report it securely online at www.crimestoppers.com.au.
Any informational is good information.
As South Coast Police District Commander, Superintendent Steve Hegarty said at this week’s launch if you are a drug dealer “We will be coming for you, we will target you and we will arrest you.”
“Drug dealers and people who manufacture drugs make a lot of money on the misery of families and the community, “ he said “ultimately it is the community who pays the ultimate sacrifice through the loss of loved ones - we will not be pinpointing one specific drug - all drugs are bad and that’s why we enforce the law on all drugs.”
Last week’s success of Strike Force Royden, where three people were arrested and charged in the Shoalhaven, over the alleged supply of illegal drugs and prescription medications, valued at $17 million over the dark web, is an example.
This allegedly saw drugs sold not just on the South Coast but across Australia and has been identified as one of the largest networks seen in NSW and possibly Australia.
The number of reports received to the national call centre relating to drugs and dealers has doubled since 2016 and we thank you for that but we need it to continue.
Also remember you don't just have to wait for this campaign to dob in a dealer. You can do it anytime, Just ring your local police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. And again all information is confidential.
As always, in case of an emergency call 000. In non-emergencies call the Policelink on 131 444 or your local police station. To provide anonymous information call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000. For domestic and family violence information, visit www.police.nsw.gov.au. For Shoalhaven Domestic Violence officers call 4421 9666 or 4421 9665 or email shoaldvlo@police.nsw.gov.au.
Don’t forget, cops are tops.
