FOUR of the South Coast’s top hockey products have been rewarded for their strong recent play, by being named in their respective Australian indoor squads.
Gerringong’s Josh Mayo, fresh off helping his NSW under 21s team win the national title in Goulburn, has been named in the under 21 men’s indoor touring team – which will visit the Czech Republic in November.
Joining Mayo in the squad are Ashley Ranford, Benjamin Edwards, Daniel Jolliffe, Hayden Michel, Heath McDonald, Jack Pampling, Jake Staines, Matthew Tate, Ryan Pace and Thomas Moitto, with Conor Yates, Jack Henharen, Jay Pavitt, Lain Carr and Lucas Scott named as shadow players.
Before heading off with his side, Mayo will attend a training camp in Wollongong from October 11-13, encompassing both the open and under 21 men's squad – with Nowra’s Alex Mackay named as a shadow player for this camp.
While Shoalhaven Heads’ Kyah Gray and Gerringong product Keeleigh McCauley have been named as shadow players for their respective open women’s and under 21 women’s Australian touring sides.
Gray’s squad is slated to visit Austria in November while McCauley’s will tour the Czech Republic during the same month.
The latter will attend a three-day training camp in Wollongong from October 11-13, with Gray a shadow player for this camp too.
