An unknown number of people broke into the Albatross Road complex between 10pm on Sunday, January 6 and 5am Monday, January 7, causing close to $50,000 damage.
A converted fire safety vehicle was stolen and set on fire, found nearby in bush crashed into a creek. The PA sound system and microphones were stolen while almost every building was broken into and trashed with about $2000 worth of goods stolen from the canteen.
The incident has led to local businessmen Craig Solomon and Wayne Dunn “throwing some funds at the embattled group”.
At the same time they have urged other local businesses to do the same.
“When we heard what happened, we just wanted to help,” Mr Dunn said.

“I’m on committees, I know how hard it is and to have something like this happen it’s heartbreaking. It can be soul destroying.
“The speedway is a great night out, I’ve been there plenty of times myself and we just didn't want to see the organisation and the activity disappear from the Shoalhaven.”
Mr Solomon has had an association with the club for a number of years and has urged other businesses to back the group.
“I know other businesses have also dug into their pockets to help the group. We know everyone is doing it tough but it would be great to see more locals come on board,” he said.
A special fundraising day for the club at Barbeques Galore Nowra this weekend.
Nowra Speedway president Dennis Richardson said the group has been overwhelmed by the response.
“We’d like to thank everyone for their support and help,” he said.
“We have been floored. We were set to walk away, give it up. But the support has been incredible and driven us to keep going.
“It has been refreshing to know so many people are behind us.”
He paid special mention to Gary Gilbert who has provided the fire safety at the complex for 21 years, and has arranged another fire safety vehicle.
“I don’t know how Gary does it but he’s incredible,” Mr Richardson said.
“We now have converted Rav4 and it’s great.”
He said security around the complex has been “beefed up”.
Despite the break-in the club managed to run two recent meetings, including a fundraiser for the Wollongong Roller Hawks Basketball team the weekend after the break-in and another big meet on Australia Day.
The club has another meeting this Saturday night (February 9) and another massive meet including a demolition derby and speedcars on February 23, which will carry big prize money and is a qualifying event for the Easter demolition derby event.
