The former Nowra High School student has been named alongside Cora Staunton in the full-backs for the round one AFL Women’s clash at the Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex, from 5.05pm on Sunday.
This duo will be joined by Tanya Hetherington, Pepa Randall and Amanda Farrugia in the backline – with this trio to start along the half-back line.
Elle Bennetts, Jessica Dal Pos and Courtney Gum will start across the centre line, while Haneen Zreika, Phobe Monahan, Erin McKinnon, Emma Swanson and Alyce Parker are the five starting forwards.
Rounding out the starting side are the rucks and rovers; Erin McKinnon, Emma Swanson and Alyce Parker.
Despite the Giants beat the Lions by 47 points in a practice match a fortnight ago, GWS coach Alan McConnell isn’t reading too much into the result and expects the two-time grand finalists to come out fighting.
“The biggest learning happened last year,” McConnell
“Don’t think that what happens in a practice match happens in the real season.
“Both teams were trying out a lot of things, both teams played 28 players.
“There’s some positives to take out of it in that I thought we used the ball a lot better than this time last year and that we’ll be able to spread the load a little more evenly across our group.”
