It’s been a big week of federal politics in the Shoalhaven, particularly for the seat of Gilmore.

On Tuesday Grant Schultz tendered his resignation with the Liberal Party, on Wednesday Scott Morrison visited Nowra, bringing with him North Shore’s Warren Mundine, the newest candidate for Gilmore.
You’ve had lots of opinions and thoughts on this issue, which you’ve shared via social media. Here’s what you’ve had to say.
On the PM welcoming Mundine to party; touts ‘deep ties’ with Gilmore locals on Facebook
“He doesn’t live down here so how could he know what the problems of the area are? Won’t get my vote, anyone but Morrison wants I’ll be sure [who] not to vote for,” Del Leonard.
“Maybe he should have checked with the people who live here before making that statement,” Trish Seeney.
“Morrison is a caveman!! We are voting Fiona Phillips,” Daniel Garnier.
“I don’t want open boarders and a Shorten government is not the answer. No to Fiona Phillips!” Maureen Ruiz.
Grant Schultz fronts media, slams PM after heartbreaking day on Facebook
“Grant Schultz… You should consider this a blessing. You have now avoided a very embarrassing and humiliating election night. Internal polling on both sides is indicating Gilmore could be the largest swing away from the coalition in the whole country. But as a Labor voter I thank you for running as an independent because you will split the conservative vote even more and possibly generate a 10% plus swing to us!” Ben Folkard
“LNP stated the reason he didn’t get the nod was because he nominated against a sitting LNP member, Ann Sudmalis, last year. It was Gareth Ward that encouraged he nominate. Gareth wanted Ann gone. This is a mess and it’s got Gareth’s name all over it,” Darcy Buchan.
“It seems that Scott Morrison is a slow learner. Parachuting in captain's picks in electorates against the wishes of the members of the local chapter didn't work too well for him in Woollahra. Maybe Grant Schultz has dodged a bullet.” Margaret Brown.
“I guess it's nearly 8 to 10 years ago I asked the question in the South Coast Register Letter to the Editor asking : " What has the Liberal Party ever done for Joanna Gash". She never got to climb a ladder for holding a Liberal safe seat. All I see is no respect for local Liberals from the Federal Liberal Party . And today it's never been more obvious!” Debbie Pasfield.
“Labor will be laughing all the way to the election with Mundine and Schultz taking votes from each other. Also Hodgkinson if she stands for the Nationals.” Kev Cummins.
Grant Schultz resigns as ‘Liberal Party abandons democracy’ on Facebook
“Typical liberals, they don’t listen to thee people. What’s new?” RayandLyn Allan.
“Um, could Scotty make more mess than he has at present? Well yes he has a couple more months to go,” Marilyn Raven.
“I too would like to know where you going to put your preferences now? Time to put your money where your mouth is because if you put LNP over Labor, you've dug your politcal grave,” Katie Vijums-Greenacre.
“The funny part of all of this...is the liberals have no chance of winning in Gilmore...this story is a non-event...endorse or not he would not have won,” Tony Russell.
“How can someone who doesn’t live in the electorate run for it? What are the rules for representing an electorate? Anyone know?” Fiona Butler.
“Really feel for Schultz here, I probably wouldn’t have voted for him in all reality, but he’s treated extremely poorly and deserved a shot at representing his party for this electorate. This is just getting worse for the LNP,” Ben Krikstolaitis.
Prime Minister to parachute ex-Labor boss into Gilmore Seat on Facebook
“What is disturbing that the Federal Liberal Party thinks it is okay to parachute one of the PM's mates into the electorate. Of course the fact he is not a Party member, does not meet the criteria, does not live here and given his past political history, is unreliable does not seem to matter. Gilmore voters are being treated with contempt by a Prime Minister and Party who are totally out of touch.” Desley Hines.
“As an Aboriginal elector in Gilmore i can assure you that no one on the South Coast is going to vote for a North Sydney resident,” Stuart Larkins.
“Parachuting an outside in shows just how little the LNP thinks of this electorate. Surely Mundine is too busy selling out his own people after previously whiteanting his own party?” Jack Ardill.
“How hard do you think local members are going to campaign for a guy they didn’t vote for, isn’t local...and isn’t a Liberal Party member yet?” Ben Krikstolaitis.
“His parachuting will divide already crucial votes in the Gilmore electorate, that if he gets any at all.” Scott Jobson.
