On Friday, staff from Ulladulla Bunnings and members of the 816 squadron from HMAS Albatross teamed up to paint various walls and rake, clear and mulch the backyard garden at the centre on Green Street.
Ulladulla team leader therapy services Nicki Kennedy said she phoned Bunnings, asking about paint, when they offered to revamp the building.
“It was getting a bit old and tired and needed a good clean up,” Mrs Kennedy said.
“We told them what wanted to do. They said measure your walls and tell us how much. They intend to come back and donate another day and time to plant out the garden.”
Noah’s Inclusion Services marketing coordinator Julie Munley praised the 816 squadron, who brought some much-needed skills to works.
“Any events we do, they’re there. They are fantastic,” she said.
The grassroots service began in Nowra more than 40 years ago. It now sees 800 children a year, from 6 weeks to 18 years of age, from the Illawarra to Ulladulla.
The early intervention service offers therapy services such as speech and occupational, autism and disability support, behaviour support, family support and a number of playgroups.
Mrs Kennedy encouraged anybody to refer themselves if they were considering.
“People can refer themselves to our organisation, you don’t have to have a specialist referral,” she said.
“We provide many services, not just for children with a disability. Family [support], behaviour [support] and playgroups are for any children. Just give us a call.”
