Paul Christopher Maher, 29, faced a mid range drink driving charge from September 2018 in Bomaderry, but also a high range offence from June 2014 in Sydney.
Court papers said Maher, who emigrated to Australia from Ireland in 2010, had been caught high range drink driving on Parramatta Road at Stanmore just after 6am on June 28, 2014 after his car collided with a guard rail and into another car stopped at traffic lights.
Papers showed he returned a reading of 0.197.
The court heard Maher had travelled overseas and had allegedly been told the matter had been dealt with in his absence.
On September 1 last year he was stopped on the Princes Highway at Bomaderry and returned a mid range reading of 0.098.
In Nowra Local Court on Monday, January 14, Magistrate Gabriel Fleming placed him on a community corrections order for 12 months, during which time he has to perform 150 hours of community service.
He was also fined $2200 on both offences, disqualified from driving for eight months and must have an interlock device fitted to his car for two years.
