Also other topics like road safety and responsible drinking are covered.
So, get into the spirit of Christmas and go and get a cup of eggnog, if you don’t like egg then just have a cup of nog, sit down on a comfortable chair, put your special reading glasses on and let the message you are about to receive sink in.
You never know. It may save you money or more importantly save the life of you or a loved one this Christmas break.
Security: There’s nothing better than feeling secure in your own home, and there is no worse of a feeling when your home is violated by a crook and your property has been stolen.
It’s not just the loss of your property, it’s the loss of trust, it’s the anguish and it’s the knowing that someone has been through your most precious and intimate keepsakes.
The same goes with your car.
Would you leave a wad of cash on the side of the road without locking it in a safe and having 24 hour security?
No?
Why then do you think that people leave their valuable vehicles parked in the street and front yards unlocked and with wallets, handbags, and other property within?
The simple message is “Just Lock It!”
If you want to know more about my “Just Lock It” campaign get yourself to the Shoalhaven LAC website on the Google net and look for the photo of a padlock then read on.
You will be taken to an alternate reality and obtain an awareness for crime prevention that you have never experienced before.
Road safety: What more can I say that has not been said about road safety?
I witnessed people driving like idiots while I was on leave recently, it is not a new issue.
It has been going on for over a hundred years.
It is said that the first road traffic death was Bridget Driscoll (44-year-old) who on August 17, 1896 died from head injuries after being struck by a car travelling at what witnesses described as a tremendous speed of 4m/h.
If fatal injuries can happen at 4mph, just have a think of what carnage 60m/h (100k/h) would produce.
If you drive like an idiot “slow down!!!!”
All police including highway patrol will be out on our roads all of the Christmas/ New Year Break.
This is a promise and if you drive like an idiot you will be caught.
Responsible drinking: Believe it or not, even I have a drink at Christmas time.
I am no different than any other person over 18-years-old.
Or am I?
I suppose I am different from some people.
The people that go out just to get drunk are different.
The people that wake up in a pool of vomit in the gutter are different.
The people that get intoxicated and engage with risk taking behavior are different.
The man or woman sitting in the dock of the local police station having their licence suspended and charged with PCA are different and the person lying in the hospital bed after a night binge drinking is different.
These are cases where it is not good to be different.
Be like me, drink responsibly, and while drinking or at any time that you are under the influence of any intoxicating liquor or drug, do not drink and drive.
PS “Just Lock It!”
