Get ready to hit the floor for the two-step to the twerk, a waltz, swing step and your funkiest free-style grooves. The Inaugural Annual Dance Affair will go-go its way through a celebration of decades of dance.
It is a large scale, site-specific and completely participatory dance celebration. Throughout the performance, the audience will be guided through decades of dancing stories - real stories from local dance legends.
Featuring a heart stopping musical mash up by a live band, a charming MC, light footed guest stars and heart-warming real stories from local community legends, this is an exhilarating night on the dance floor.
The event has been described by organisers as part theatre performance, and part ‘get up and dance’. The event is one for all ages, with the aim of bringing old and new together.
A number of local dance troupes will perform exciting routines, with performances from the Shoalhaven Rock and Roll Club, Dance Works, Shoalhaven Country Line Dancers, Find Your Feet, Nowra Scottish Dancers, Morris Dancers, Playford Dancers and The Celtic Belles.
The Nowra show has been organised to recognise the major role dance has played in the cultural fabric of the region. Historical records from 1902 describe locals “dancing with zest until the small hours of the morning”, while later news articles described one particular dance as a “galaxy of beautifully dressed ladies and gentlemen with youthful visage.”
The event will be held at the Nowra School of Arts on November 23 and 24. To purchase tickets visit https://bundanon.com.au/whats-on/the-inaugural-annual-dance-affair/.
