Daniel Wells won the B grade race to follow on from his third placings last week and this was after a marathon mountain bike epic in Hawaii a week before that.
Marconi Cycle Club visited the Shoalhaven over the weekend and provided the race winner in the C grade criterium on Sunday.
Dave Jacobs attacked the field early in the event and Bill Stahlhut was quick to join the escapade.
Jacobs and Stahlhut combined well and held off the numerous chase attempts from the field which split up as the race came into the final few laps before Jacobs raced ahead up the finish straight to take the win.
Jason Green (Marconi CC) and Jeff Clarkeburn (Waratah Masters CC) were next to finish with Brad Oaten, Geoff Lockhart, Colin Petrie (Waratah Masters CC), Jose Pereira and Graham Johns following.
The B grade race had the pressure on all the way and while different riders made attempts at escaping the field, the high speed negated every move.
Jason Spence was first through the bell and into the next corner with a five-length margin but a lap later it was Dan Wells and Gavin Nethery racing full gas to the line with the decision going to Wells.
Godfrey Green was third after being stuck in a single gear all the way with Josh Henry fourth ahead of Curtis Trkulja, Scott James, Spence, Colin Hunt, Adam Rourke, Tim Devlin, Amelia Trkulja and Ian Kielly.
The A grade race was an attacking affair with the field splintering and coming back together on numerous occasions. Aaron Coghlan was the first to stretch out the contestants with Ben Rolfe, Harry Mackay (Marconi CC), Levi Johns and Nick Johns alert to every move.
Brooklyn Henry was having his first A grade start and he began raiding the field at halfway. Brooklyn was back in the bunch three laps later and chased along with Mick Berriman and Richard Vitiello from then on.
Nick Johns was charging for the finish line at the end of the final lap when challenged and passed by his brother Levi in the last 50 metres.
Harry Mackey was third ahead of Rolfe, Henry, Berriman, Vitiello and Coghlan.
Glenn Gorman (Marconi CC) tried to break up the D grade bunch but the race came down to a five-rider sprint finish with Jenkins racing past Jo Chalain up the finish straight for the win.
Gorman was third over the line ahead of John Cullity and Rod Pierce.
Next Sunday will be the final race program of 2018 for the Nowra Velo Club with the club’s criterium championships being held on the Albatross Aviation Tech Park circuit.
Racing will start at 8.30 am and cater for A, B, C and D grades.
The Nowra Velo Club’s annual presentation will follow the race program and will be held at the Jets Café in the Tech Park, starting at 11am.
