Anthony Thomas Dowell, 30, did not enter a plea to the charge of robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
The charge had been changed from the original indictment of robbery armed with a dangerous weapon.
Court papers stated around 1.50pm on January 15, Dowell allegedly attempted to rob a man of $540 at the Sanctuary Point IGA while armed with a butterfly knife.
The matter went to trial in Nowra District Court in front of Judge Chris Hoy, with a jury returning a not guilty verdict.
