Mural artist Andre Braun’s work depicts the Shoalhaven River, sky and the abundance of bushland nearby susceptible to fire.
And ironically, on Tuesday as Andre dipped his brush into red and orange paint and splashed it on the Nowra laneway wall, a fire ripped through 60 hectares of St Georges Basin bushland.
“It’s unbelievable, but it’s really part of the Australian landscape, that’s why I thought it was important to inscribe that on this part of the mural,” Andre said.
The Swiss-born, Vaucluse-based artist thoroughly enjoyed his three-day stint beside the Shoalhaven Regional Gallery.
”It’s beautiful, the weather’s been great, it’s very peaceful here,” Andre said.
A lot of friendly locals approached him through the day to ask about his work.
Andre was impressed to see the range of street art around town.
“I can see (art) all around, it’s beautiful, it’s a great place for street art,” he said.
