The men’s and women’s finals capped off what was a great three-days of football and cultural celebrations.
Local teams the Yuin Cockatoos featured in both the men’s and women’s finals.
The Yuin women’s side played a great game in the final but faced a red-hot Illawarra Bungarras team.
The Illawarra Bungarras ended up recording a 4-nil win in the final.
The men’s final was a physical and exciting contest.
Both the Yuin Black Cockatoos and Wirrigas United players gave their all and produced a great finals match.
Yuin went onto win the final but not before a serious challenge came from Wirrigas United.
The home side held a 2-nil lead at half-time and the Wirrigas United players knew they had to make a statement early in the second half.
A Wirrigas United goal early in the second term, to make the score 2-1, meant there was going to be an exciting end to the men’s final.
The Yuin lads went onto win 2-1 but they were pushed to the limit.
Well done to everyone who played a role in making the National Indigenous Football Championships such a success.
