Hosted by the Gerringong committee of the Children’s Medical Research Institute, the show will be held in the Gerringong Town Hall.
The quilt show is famous for its amazingly varied and beautiful quilts and wall hangings, with more than 70 pieces of work to be on display.
The Gerringong committee’s craft stall will also have a wide variety of handmade Christmas gifts available, including children’s wear, soft toys and Christmas decorations.
2019 will mark the 60th anniversary of the Gerringong committee of the Children’s Medical Research Institute. In that time it has raised more than $2 million.
And, of course, the legendary homemade Christmas cakes (with more than 45+) and puddings (40+) will also be on sale, as will tickets in the annual quilt raffle.
Beautiful morning and afternoon teas and lunch will also be available.
Gerringong committee members work for 12 months organising and making items for sale at the show and, as they put it, “have a great time together”.
All funds raised will go to the Children’s Medical Research Institute.
The Gerringong committee was founded in 1959 – a year after the CMRI was formed by the late Dorothy Bailey.
Next March the group will celebrate its 60th anniversary and incredibly, original members Mena and Joyce Sharpe, are still actively involved.
The Gerringong group has raised more than $2 million for the institute – an extraordinary feat.
The group boasts around 100 members who stage a number of fundraising events throughout the year.
Spokesperson Edith Burgess said the quilt show was always a popular event.
“We have a great array of quilts on show and a number of quilting stalls,” she said.
“We must thank the township of Gerringong for all its support. The town and its residents really have been wonderful, not only for our annual quilt show but everything we put on.
“Gerringong really supports us and we appreciated that. And we have a great time doing it.”
The quilt show will be open from 10am to 4pm Friday and Saturday, and from 10am to 2pm Sunday.
Entry is just $5.
