About 60 people gathered for the event, with many faces representing the well-known local business owners mentioned in the book.
The South Coast Register’s Robert Crawford – himself from an established and well-known Nowra family – was given the honour of presenting the book and declaring it officially launched. He regaled the gathering with anecdotes from the pages of the book and had everyone reminiscing of a time gone by.
Written by local historians Robyn Florance and Alan Clark, the book is full of stories from Nowra’s early days of surveying in 1852, through to the town becoming fully established after devastating floods at Terara, the then town hub in 1860 and 1870, through to the modern day.
