States that attended were Western Australia, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, NSW, and a surprise visit from Japan.
Before the tournament South Australian and Queensland teams attended a Bushido Judo Club Shoalhaven training session. After a meal visitors were each presented with a banner from the local club.
In from of 170-200 contestants, Kiama MP Gareth Ward gave an impeccable speech not about politics but about judo at the opening ceremony which was very highly praised by the judo fraternity from other states as well as our own.
The Bushido parents and members were unbelievable in organising and running the tournament so successfully.
Under the guidance of Ken Murphy, Darren Fagan and Danny Fagan, it went like clockwork, with everything on time.
Bushido Judo Club Shoalhaven won 24 medals, six gold, seven silver and 11 bronze. Those who didn’t get a medal were not far off the placings and fought their hardest.
