South Coast MP Shelley Hancock said Roads and Maritime Services will carry out night works to collect information on utility services located under the highway, to help progress the design of the Nowra Bridge project.
“The upgrade of the crossing over the Shoalhaven River is part of the $1.5 billion suite of major works occurring along the Princes Highway funded by the NSW Government,” Mrs Hancock said.
“The NSW Government entered into a funding agreement with the Federal Government in June, with each to contribute $155 million towards the construction of the new bridge.
“Following community feedback on the bridge’s preferred option design in February, we released the concept design and environmental assessment only a month ago for public comment, with the process closing today.”
Mrs Hancock praised community members who have provided feedback to ensure residents and visitors get the best design for the bridge and surrounding intersections.
“I also thank them for their patience while the work is carried out and am happy to see this project progressing.”
Work will be undertaken along the Princes Highway from Junction Street to Bridge Road, and the Princes Highway intersections at Bridge Road, Wharf Road and Pleasant Way.
To minimise disruption to motorists, work will be carried out between 6pm and 4.30am from Tuesday, October 2 to Friday, October 5, weather permitting.
For the safety of workers and motorists, lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place during work hours and may affect travel times.
Motorists are advised to follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs and keep to the reduced speed limit. For the latest traffic updates call 132 701, visit livetraffic.com or download the Live Traffic NSW.
