It also has a junior stage crew, stage manager and audio-visual crew.
“We are so proud of this network of young musical theatre advocates in the Shoalhaven,” an Albatross Musical Theatre Company spokesperson said.
“We think everyone will be astounded by the talent on display in Shrek.”
On Saturday, October 6 there are two shows on offer.
Tickets are available on the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre’s (SEC) website - http://shoalhavenentertainment.com.au/
About Jam
JAM was formed in 2017 after AMTC recognised that in our community we have many dance schools, drama classes and opportunities to learn music and singing.
So JAM was formed to bring all these skills together and provide an opportunity for a musical theatre production funded by the AMTC and performed in the professional venue of the SEC.
JAM’s mission statement
· to promote a love of musical theatre in young performers, stage crew and audiences.
· to develop excellence in various skills required to mount quality musical theatre production.
· to create a pool of talent to progress to future AMTC productions
JAM’s past efforts
Anyone who saw the group’s inaugural production of Dear Edwina last year would agree AMTC did create a talent pool.
Several older students progressed to major chorus roles both in the 2017 AMTC production of ‘Little Mermaid’ and also in ‘Mary Poppins’ in 2018, some with minor lead roles.
In 2017 AMTC had 57 performers and crew involved in JAM.
This year the numbers have grown and the program has attracted new participants as well as returning participants.
The JAM family includes parents who have contributed their support for our rehearsal administration, and their skills in set building, artwork and design and costuming.
AMTC has created a happy theatre community.
The JAM family is led by Julia Armstrong.
Julia’s catch phrase is “we are all cogs in the wheel - we need to work together to keep it turning”.
She is a committed promoter of children and their talents.
Julia will find a role in the JAM team for those who are genuinely and completely committed to participate in the full audition, rehearsal and production schedule.
JAM members are aged 10 to 15 years.
AMTC found that by limiting our age group they gain a manageable group size while still honouring our commitment to include all-comers.
Students over 15 may apply for production assistant jobs in stage management, wardrobe and technical support.
