After losing in the final minute in last weekend’s major semi-final to Wollongong Lions, by just five points, Kristie Lee Dickson and her side are determined to qualify for the inaugural women’s grand final.

“The girls have recovered well from last week’s loss,” captain/coach Dickson said.

“I think we learnt a lot from the loss over the weekend, which is a good thing moving forward.

“Having that second chance is the massive positive of finishing on top of the ladder and we intend on making the most of it this Saturday.”

Standing at their way at Artie Smith Oval, from 1pm, are the Bulldogs, who defeated Kiama 5.4-34 to 1.3-9 in last weekend’s minor semi-final.

“This week’s training sessions have been good – we have gone over a few things that went wrong against the Lions,” Dickson said.

“The encouragement and vibe from the girls has been really positive, which is what we need going into the Bulldogs match.

“Against the Bulldogs, we have selected our strongest team possible, which should help us get back on track.

“We are really focused on blowing the Bulldogs out of the water in the first quarter.”

Dickson hopes last Saturday’s loss, just the Tigers second of the season which helped them claim the minor premiership, is the last time her side taste defeat in 2018 – as they are hell bent to bring the title back to Bomaderry.

“It would be an absolute honour to make the first grand final of the women’s competition,” she said.

“That’s what we have been aiming for from the start and the girls have worked so hard to get there.

“And if we are lucky enough to get there, we all really want to win the premiership in the competition’s first year – it’s something that would be very special.”

The women’s game is just one of four preliminary finals at Artie Smith Oval on Saturday, with men’s matches between Ulladulla and Figtree (division three at 9.15am), Bulldogs and Kiama (division two at 11.05am) and Lions and Bulldogs (first division at 2.30pm) also taking place.
