Three properties on the South Coast have been named as bronze and silver winners in the 2018 HomeAway Holiday Rental Awards in the ‘Indulgence’, ‘Family Friendly’ and ‘Unique’ categories.
Jerrymara at Willow Vale won a silver medal in the indulgence category, while Sand Castle at Culburra Beach and The Tree House at Kangaroo Valley won bronze medals in the family friendly and unique categories.
Jerrymara, located near Gerringong, was described by HomeAway as “a stunning rural home and estate”.
The Treehouse, which one a bronze, received praise for its design, “[it] offers unique and stylish accommodation suspended above the gentle river rapids of Kangaroo River,” according To HomeAway.
“The main bedroom pavilion, is set high among the treetops where you can lie in bed with gorgeous gumtree views and allow the soothing sounds of the river gently rock you to sleep.”
Sand Castle rises out of the dunes at Culburra Beach, offering views north to Shoalhaven Heads and south to Penguin Head.
The property was awarded third place in the Family Friendly category for it’s space and location.
The winning homes were judged by a panel of experts, including Wendy Moore, editor-in-chief of Home Beautiful and judge on House Rules and Charlie Albone, one of Australia’s most prominent landscape designers and Selling Houses Australia personality.
Ms Moore said it was “a treat” to review the South Coast homes.
“From absolutely luxurious interiors, stunning locations and amenities that make you feel instantly spoiled, to the family friendly homes that will make your kids squeal with excitement, not only did I see some styling that could be featured in Home Beautiful, I have a few ideas of where I’ll be booking my next holiday,” she said.
Each property was chosen based on a criteria that focused on the quality of the guest reviews, property image quality, holiday home description, hospitality and relevance to the category.
HomeAway’s Simone McDermid said the South Coast winners should be be proud of the their proerties and the tourism they bring to the region.
“This year’s winners featured amazing properties from all over the country and we are very proud that [these South Coast properties] were on that list.”
