The walk’s final fundraising tally has just come in and $12,503 was raised.
Each cent will be given to the SAHSSI (Supported Accommodation & Homelessness Services Shoalhaven Illawarra).
SAHSSI looks after and supports women and children in crisis.
The 30-kilometre walk, held recently, from Huskisson’s White Sands Park to Booderee National Park and back was organised by Jo Warren.
“I am so grateful to live in this beautiful and generous community,” Ms Warren said.
SAHSSI’s Shoalhaven manager Lesley Labka said the organisation was grateful for the support.
“SAHSSI is thrilled with the efforts of everybody who participated in the walk and also very grateful to those who made donations,” she said.
“SAHSSI is currently raising funds to provide affordable accommodation in the Shoalhaven for homeless women and children, particularly those who have experienced domestic and family violence.
“All the funds that SAHSSI raise go directly to supporting women and children and one of the greatest needs we have at the moment is for more affordable housing.”
Ms Labka said the final tally demonstrated the power of community and a desire to support those who may not have a voice.
