The MOD Under 12-2 grand final was played in gusty conditions in Ulladulla last Saturday.
The first half was tight, with The Warriors first to score through Paul Basha. The try was converted by Cohen Langlo, and the score was 6-0.
The Basin scored next and converted, making it 6-6. This score remained until the halftime break. The second half saw The Warriors running down field with the gusty wind behind them. This helped The Warriors, who scored next with a Micheal Browne try. The conversion was unsuccessful, 10-6.
St Georges Basin were next over the line, converting the try, and the Basin now were in front 12-10. But a try to captain Paul Little, unconverted, edged the Warriors in front 14-12.
The game remained close and with only three minutes remaining, Hugh Regan darted from dummy half to score the winning try, which was converted by Bailey Soper. There were strong performances from Cohen Langlo, Bailey Soper, Ryan Walker.
Grand Final Man of the Match was Warrior Michael Browne. Congratulations to all players, coach Sean Cruickshank and team trainers Peter Soper, Chris Regan, Gerald Browne and Clint Langford.
The Under 13-2 Warriors played an impressive game to win 34-8 over St Georges Basin at Francis Ryan Reserve. The final score was no indication of the game played with both teams eager to finish the season on a good note. Thank you to Coach, Dennis Wellington, manager Bianca Perry and trainer Steve Hush.
The Under 16-2 Warriors also put up a good fight against The Culburra Dolphins at Lyrebird Park. The game was competitive, reflecting the true Warrior Spirit of the 11 players who took the field.
