The week was renamed 'Week Gr8' with the SRC (Student Representative Council) joining with the Best Practice Team, which is all about positive relationships, behaviour and achievement at school, to stage some fun events.
The SRC, and in particular representatives Oscar Moysey and Matt Nash, worked hard to stage a number of events.
Week Gr8 was a proposal put forth by Oscar and fellow student Jess O’Donnel at the 2018 Regional SRC Camp.
Oscar was elected from 200 students across the state to be on the SRC team and ran this year’s conference in Murrumbateman alongside 16 other leaders from various regions.
It was there the Shoalhaven South Coast group put forth Week Gr8 as a major idea proposal at the annual forum.
It was the winning idea and has now been shared with schools across the state. It is hoped more schools will pick up the concept and hold similar events.
Jess was similarly elected onto the leadership team this year, and will continue to work with the new representatives on similar motions over the coming year.
Monday was Milkshake Madness, with the SRC selling milkshakes for $4 each. Supplies were sold out by recess, and more were bought in for lunchtime.
Headspace representatives came along, offering assistance to students who would like to learn more about what the organisation does. They also also ran a game with prizes.
Tuesday was Tournament Tuesday - The Dodgeball match Year 12 v teachers at lunch in the hall proved popular.
The students were too strong winning easily three games in a row. The teachers did not leave disappointed though as the crowd clearly supported the staff team.
Wednesday was Worldwide Wednesday, celebrating diversity at the school.
Greek dancing in the library, bracelet making, flag designing and photo booth with musical instruments and international costumes.
Thursday was Throwback Thursday, a blast from the past and a chance to explore the archives from Nowra High - 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s photos and memorabilia were posted around the buildings for all to see.
It was also crazy hair and sock day.
Friday was Festival Friday with a music festival at recess following the school assembly with school mascot ‘Nazza in the Grass’, the photo booth and polaroid photos set up near the multi purpose hall.
